This project was shot in 6 different locations around Manukau city. As a south Auckland resident, raised in Mangere and currently living in Papatoetoe, it has been important for this project to reflect the social and cultural environments that help to inform the identity building of young Pacific males.
These production stills are taken from a Papatoetoe location. This is my sisters garage. What you see in terms of the space has been art directed and staged to reflect the urban spaces occupied predominantly by Pacific island males. The art direction has been informed by my own personal experiences as a younger Samoan male, growing up in similar familial space.
These pics are of Cody and Joel Wilson-Heti, two brothers from Mangere who have volunteer’ed to be part of the project.
